เครื่องสังเวยมีความเกี่ยวข้องกับบายศรีสู่ขวัญ เครื่องสังเวยจะเป็นองค์ประกอบที่จัดเตรียมเอาไว้สำหรับผู้ที่ถูกให้พรได้นำเอาไปเซ่นสังเวยหรือนำเอาไปมอบให้คนที่เคารพนับถือ แต่ในการกระทำพิธีจริง ๆ อาจเป็นผู้ประกอบพิธีคือ พราหมณ์ หรือโหรา เป็นผู้นำเอาเครื่องสังเวยไปถวาย (มอบให้) ให้กับครู อาจารย์ บิดา มาดา ปู่ย่าตายาย แทนผู้ถูกอวยพร

เครื่องบายศรีจะประกอบด้วยวัสดุและอุปกรณ์ 5 อย่าง ได้แก่ ข้าว ไข่ ขนมต้ม บายศรีและสิ่งของรองรับ

1 ข้าว ข้าวที่จะนำไปเข้าร่วมในพิธีบายศรีสู่ขวัญ จะต้องเป็นข้าวที่หุงสุกใหม่ ๆ และปาดเอามาเฉพาะที่อยู่ตอนบนสุดเท่านั้น (ยังไม่มีการคดเอาออกไปรับประทาน) เรียกว่า “ข้าวปากหม้อ” และข้าวปากหม้อที่นำไปใส่ลงในภาชนะใส่เครื่องสังเวยบายศรี เรียกว่า “ข้าวขวัญ”

2. ไข่ เป็นไข่ไก่หรือไข่เป็ดต้มให้สุก ไม่ต้องปอกเปลือก นำเอามาวางไว้ที่บนข้าว เรียกว่า ไข่ขวัญ หรือบางตำราเรียกว่า ไข่ข้าว

3. ขนมต้ม คือ อาหารหวาน ได้แก่ นมต้มแดง ขนมต้มขาว หมูนอนตอง (หมูต้มสุก 1 ชิ้น วางลงบนใบตอง) และอาจมีอาหารคาวหวานอื่น ๆ เช่น ทองหยิบ ฝอยทอง แกงเผ็ด ต้มจืด ด้วยก็ได้

4. บายศรี จัดทำด้วยใบตองพับให้เป็นรูปสามเหลี่ยมมีมุมแหลมและซ้อนกัน 3 ชั้นเป็น 1 หวี บายศรีประกอบเครื่องสังเวย 1 ชุดต้องมี 3 หวีจัดวางลงในภาชนะ เช่น ถ้วยหรือชามทรงสูงเรียกว่า บายศรีปากชาม

4. Baisri made of banana leaves folded into a triangle shape with sharp corners and stacked 3 layers into 1 comb. Baisri consists of a set of sacrifices. There must be 3 combs arranged in a container such as a tall cup or bowl called a bai Sri Pak Bowl.
