ทาวเวอร์เครน(Tower Crane) คือเครื่องจักรที่ใช้ยกของในแนวดิ่งและเคลื่อนที่ไปตามแนวราบมักพบในไซต์งานก่อสร้างเสียเป็นส่วนใหญ่เราสามารถจำแนกชนิด และประเภทได้ดังนี้คือแบบบูมราบ(Hammerhead Crane) และแบบบูมกระดก (Luffing Jib Crane) โดยทั้งสองแบบนี้ยังสามารถแยกลักษณะการติดตั้งได้อีก 3 แบบคือ แบบติดตั้งนอกอาคาร (Static Crane) แบบไต่ในช่องลิฟต์ หรือช่องเปิด (Internal Floor Climbing) และแบบเดินราง (Travelling Crane) นอกจากนี้ยังมีทาวเวอร์เครนแบบติดตั้งได้ด้วยตัวเองหรือที่เรียกว่า Self-Erection อีกด้วย

ตัวเสาของทาวเวอร์ซึ่งเป็นส่วนรับน้ำหนักโครงสร้างของทาวเวอร์เครนโดยประกอบขึ้นด้วยโครงถักเหล็กฉากรูปพรรณหรือเหล็กท่อกลม ยึดรอยต่อด้วยสลักเกลียวกำลังสูง ซึ่งทำให้สะดวกในการประกอบและรื้อถอน
2. แขนยกวัสดุ ประกอบด้วยโครงถักเหล็กฉากรูปพรรณหรือเหล็กท่อกลม ยึดรอยต่อด้วยสลักเกลียวกำลังสูงเหมือนกับตัวเสาทาวเวอร์สามารถต่อได้ยาวตามจำนวนที่ต้องการยกน้ำหนักของวัสดุ
3. ตุ้มถ่วงน้ำหนัก จะเป็นก้อนคอนกรีตที่ทำหน้าที่ถ่วงน้ำหนักให้เกิดความสมดุลกับแขนยกในขณะที่ทำการยกวัสดุ
4. หอควบคุม ถือว่าเป็นห้องสำหรับพนักงานขับเครนที่ใช้ทำหน้าที่บังคับสั่งการให้สายสลิงและรอกสำหรับการยกวัสดุ รวมไปถึงการเคลื่อนย้ายแขนยกวัสดุไปยังทิศทางต่างๆตามที่ต้องการจะหมุนไปทางไหนก็ได้

เครน คือ เครื่องจักรกลที่ใช้ยกสิ่งของหนัก ขึ้นลงตามแนวดิ่ง และเคลื่อนย้ายสิ่งของในลักษณะแขวนลอยไปตามแนวราบแล้วเคลื่อนที่ไปมาโดยรอบหรือตามทิศทางที่กำหนดไว้
ซึ่งประเภทของเครน ถูกแบ่งได้ดังนี้
1. เครนเหนือศรีษะ และเครนขาสูง (Overhead Crane and Gentry Crane)
2. เครนหอสูง (Tower Crane)
3. รถเครน เรือเครน (Mobile Crane)
แยกเครนออกเป็นการใช้งาน 2 แบบ
1. เครนชนิดเคลื่อนที่ (Mobile Cranes) คือ เครนที่ประกอบด้วยอุปกรณ์ควบคุม และเครื่องต้นกำลังอยู่ในตัว ซึ่งติดตั้งอยู่บนยานที่ขับเคลื่อนในตัวเอง

1. 2. เครนชนิดอยู่กับที่ (Stationary Cranes) คือ เครนที่ประกอบด้วยอุปกรณ์ควบคุมและเครื่องต้นกำลังอยู่ในตัว ซึ่งติดตั้งอยู่บนหอสูง ขาตั้ง หรือบนล้อเลื่อน

3. Weighted weights It is a concrete block that acts as a counterweight to balance the lifting arm while lifting the material.

4. The control tower is considered to be a room for the crane operator to command the cable slings and hoists for lifting materials. Including moving the arm to lift the material to different directions as needed to rotate in any direction.

塔式起重机（Tower Crane）是一种用来垂直吊起东西并沿水平线移动的机器，常见于建筑工地。我们大多数人都可以对类型进行分类。其类型有：平臂（Hammerhead Crane）和下臂（Luffing Jib Crane），两者也可分为3种安装方式，即安装在建筑物外的类型（Static Crane），在电梯口或开口（Internal Floor Climbing）和轨道（Travelling Crane）攀爬。还有称为自架式的自安装式塔式起重机。
