การจองกฐิน
วัดราษฎร์ทั่วไป นิยมทำเป็นหนังสือจองกฐินไปติดต่อประกาศไว้ยังวัดที่จะทอดถวาย เป็นการเผดียงสงฆ์ให้ทราบวันเวลาที่จะไปทอด หรือจะไปนมัสการเจ้าอาวาสให้ทราบไว้ก็ได้
สำหรับการขอพระราชทานผ้าพระกฐินไปทอด ณ พระอารามหลวงให้แจ้งกรมการศาสนา เพื่อขึ้นบัญชีไว้กราบบังคมทูลและแจ้งให้วัดทราบ ในทางปฏิบัติผู้ขอพระราชทานจะไปติดต่อกับทางวัดในรายละเอียดต่าง ๆ จนก่อนถึงวันกำหนดวันทอด จึงมารับผ้าพระกฐิน และเครื่องกฐินพระราชทานจากกรมศาสนา
การนำกฐินไปทอด
