would มาจาก will เป็น past tense บางคนเรียกเล่นๆ ว่า future in the past จ้า แปลว่า เขาจะไป (ในอดีต) (เป็นการเล่าเรื่องในอดีต)
มักจะเป็นการเล่าย้อนเวลา เช่น He would go to school yesterday.

 would/wouldn't ใช้ได้ในหลายสถานการณ์ครับ
ex:

1. prediction: They said they would be here soon.
2. Predicting the present: I thought they wouldn't be here yet.
3. Describing imaginary situations: You wouldn't say that if you'd met him.
4. Past habit (= used to); She would always try to help you.
5. Refusal in the past: He wouldn't do what I asked.
6. Advice: I would talk to him about it if I were you.
7. Intention in the past: He said he wouldn't be coming tonight.
8. Annoying habit in the past: He would smoke when I was trying to eat.
